As a high school student, I never imagined that I would be enrolled as a full-time student at a college. However, thanks to the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program that's exactly what happened during my junior and senior years. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for the life-changing experiences and opportunities that PSEO has provided me.
PSEO is an enrollment program that allows high school students to earn college credits for free, either online or on a college campus. It's a unique and flexible program that has opened doors and empowered me to pursue my academic and career interests in ways I never thought possible.
One of the things I love most about PSEO is the freedom and flexibility it offers. I was able to choose how many PSEO classes I wanted to take while still enjoying all the traditional high school experiences like school dances, academic clubs, and sports. It allowed me to strike a balance between my high school and college education, giving me the best of both worlds.
Yet PSEO wasn't just about getting ahead academically, it was also about the relationships and connections I was able to build and maintain at a young age. Through PSEO, I had the opportunity to interact with college professors, fellow college students, and professionals in my field of interest. These interactions not only enriched my education but also helped me develop important professional skills and networks that continue to benefit me in my college and career journey.
One of the most significant benefits of participating in the PSEO program was the impact it had on my academic and financial future. By the time I graduated from high school, I had earned 60 college credits and received an Associate's of Arts degree. This head start in my college education has been invaluable, both academically and financially. It has allowed me to graduate with significantly less debt, giving me a solid foundation to pursue my future goals without the burden of excessive student loans.
Now, I am pursuing my passion at the Carlson School of Management, majoring in Supply Chain and Operations Management, graduating a year early. I credit much of my success and opportunities to the PSEO program, which ignited my passion for learning and opened doors to new possibilities.
Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for my journey with PSEO. It has been a transformative experience that has shaped my personal and career trajectory in profound ways. I would strongly recommend other students to consider participating in PSEO and seize the incredible opportunities it offers. It's not just about earning college credits, but about gaining valuable experiences, building meaningful relationships, and setting a strong foundation for a bright future. I am grateful for the impact that PSEO has had on my life, and I encourage fellow students to explore this remarkable program and make the most of their high school years.
